Fact Check: No, National Health Mission Employees Did NOT Dance During COVID-19 Reforms Meeting

Date:

As Coronavirus cases continue to multiply across the nation, a video of women dancing in what appears to be a conference room is being shared on social media.

The posts with a sarcastic caption suggest that the video was taken during a meeting regarding COVID-19 reforms at the National Health Mission workshop in Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh.

“भोपाल में राष्ट्रीय स्वास्थ्य मिशन की कार्यशाला में कोरोना पर गंभीर चर्चा..!” The facebook post read.

(Translation: Serious discussion on Corona in National Health Mission workshop in Bhopal..!)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the video and found the claim to be false.

We ran a keyword search along with Reverse Image Search on the keyframes of the video and found that the same video was uploaded by ETV Bharat on YouTube on March 18.
According to the description, the video was taken on March 8, during a small celebration for International Women’s Day.

We also found several media reports on the same video that went viral and came under scrutiny, as most women in the video are not wearing a mask or following Covid-19 protocols.

According to a report by Dainik Bhaskar, the organisation clarified that a small event was organised by women employees on the occasion of Women’s Day and the video was taken during that event. The authorities also urged people to respect the women who have been working day and night for the past year to curb the Coronavirus crisis and not share the video with misleading claims.

Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the video was taken on Women’s Day and not during a meeting regarding the pandemic situation.
