PM Modi Writes To Imran Khan: India Calls For Trust, Seeks To Build Cordial Relations

Date:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has expressed a desire to build “cordial relations” with Pakistan but stressed for that to happen, an “environment of trust” that is “devoid of terror” is necessary. The letter was addressed to PM Imran Khan on Pakistan Day.

PM Modi also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan in dealing with the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic.

Pakistan Day is celebrated to mark the Lahore Resolution on March 23 1940 when the All-India Muslim League demanded a separate nation for the Muslims of India. Ties between India and Pakistan seem to be warming up.

Last month, the Indian and Pakistani armies recommitted themselves to the 2003 ceasefire on the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir.

A delegation of Pakistani officials arrived in India for a meeting of the permanent Indus Commission in New Delhi in the last week of March 2021. It is the first such dialogue in over two-and-a-half years.
