Fact Check: Still From A Movie Resurfaces With False Link To West Bengal Polls

Date:

Amidst the high voltage ongoing West Bengal assembly elections, a picture of a woman being assaulted is doing rounds on social media.

The picture is being shared with a caption, “In Bengal, the houses of Hindus are burnt, temples are being demolished. Nevertheless the UN shanti duniya silent world only speaks for the Rohingyos. Gaddar will now fight for our brothers #StandWithBengalHindus.”

The links to the post can be seen here, here and here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be false.

We instantly recognised the false post as the same picture, which was shared with a different claim, was debunked by NewsMobile on two different occasions in the past.

Once when the same picture was shared with a claim that a BSP leader had assaulted a Dalit woman and the other time that a man harassed the woman and he was labelled as a Congress leader. The articles can be seen here and here.

Here’s the truth about the picture:

While fact-checking for the authenticity of the picture, we came across a blog post on movies dated August 2014, which had used the same picture. The blog talked about the movie ‘Aurat Khilona Nahi.’

It is a Bhojpuri movie that came out in 2015 and starred Manoj Tiwari, Monalisa and Rinku Ghosh in prominent roles. It is an action movie directed by Aslam Shaikh.

Meanwhile, the full movie is also available on YouTube and at 2 hours 11 minute, the same frame can be seen.

Hence, from the above information is clear that it is a screen share from a movie and the same picture has resurfaced with yet another false claim.
