Fact Check

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found it to be false.

Firstly, we searched for related news items but couldn’t find corroborating news reports.

We then clicked on the web link in the viral post and found out that the link was not accessible.

Also, if one looks at the web link (https://www.freemb.xyz) in the viral post, it doesn’t look like a government website. A government website generally has a domain with ‘gov.in’. Take a look at the GOI’s Digital India website link below.

On digging further, we found a tweet by the government’s nodal agency Press Information Bureau (PIB), in which it rejected the claim about the free 3-month free recharge plan to 100 million users by the government.

NewsMobile had debunked a similar fake post last year as well. Check the article below.

Don’t fall for this FAKE Jio news: Nita Ambani has not offered a free recharge scheme worth Rs. 349

Hence, from the above information, it is clear that the claim – that the union government has promised to give 3-month free recharge plan to 100 million users – is FALSE.
