Centre Responds To Aspirants’ Plea, Postpones NEET PG 2021 Amid Surging COVID19 Cases

Amid the massive surge in COVID-19 cases across the country, the central government on Thursday decided to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)-Postgraduate exam. The all-India medical entrance test was scheduled to take place on April 18.

“In light of the surge in COVID-19 cases, the Government of India has decided to postpone the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test-Postgraduate exam which was earlier scheduled to be held on April 18. Next date to be decided later,” Union Health Minister Dr Harsh Vardhan tweeted, adding that the decision had been taken keeping in mind the wellbeing of young medical students.

After CBSE cancelled Class 10 exam and postponed Class 12 exam 2021, students were  urging the centre to postpone the NEET PG 2021 exam as well. Some students also moved to Supreme Court with their plea.

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Postgraduate, NEET PG 2021 exam was scheduled to be conducted on April 18, 2021.

NEET PG 2021 admits card were also released on April 14, 2021, by the National Board of Examinations. As many as 1,74,886 candidates were registered to sit  for NEET PG 2021 exam.

Earlier, several NEET PG 2021 aspirants also took to Twitter to push for their demand with #postponeneetpg campaign. The students have been urging NEET authorities to postpone the exam to later date.

Now, with most of the states either cancelling or postponing the respective board exams in the view of massive spread of the lethal virus, it is very difficult to ensure safety of students while conducting the exams.
