Amidst the ongoing assembly elections in West Bengal, a picture of a cow with the BJP party symbol painted on it is being widely shared on social media.

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found the post to be misleading.
We ran the picture through Reverse Image Search and found that a Twitter user had shared the same picture in 2019.
We also found the same picture in a report published by Prothom Alo in 2019.
We then ran the same picture through Yandex, a Russian search engine and found a link to a 2018 report by Business Standard, featuring another picture of the same cow.
According to the article, one Dr Anand Rai had tweeted the picture claiming that it had been shot in Bhopal during Madhya Pradesh assembly elections.
We also found an ABP news report from 2018 on the same.
NewsMobile, could not independently verify the origin and the location of the image but the above fact check proves that the picture in circulation is OLD.
