Fact Check: This Video Of A Constable Beating Another Cop Is OLD

A video of a man in uniform beating another cop is being widely shared on social media.

Facebook users shared the post with the caption, “आज शायद इनको कोई मिला नहीं तो आपस में ही…”

(Translation: Maybe today they didn’t find anyone else, so [they are fighting] amongst themselves)

FACT CHECK 

NewsMobile fact-checked the post and found that the video is old.

We ran a keyword search and found the same video in a report by Asianet News Hindi dated April 21, 2020.

According to the report,  the incident took place in Sitapur, Uttar Pradesh, where a constable, during lockdown duty, assaulted a Sub Inspector in the middle of the road.

A report on the same incident was also uploaded by the YouTube channel of News 24 in April 2020.

According to a report by News 18, after the video went viral, the constable was suspended and a case was filed against him.

Hence, from the above information, it is evident that the video is old.
