FACT CHECK
NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be fake.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found that the same video was uploaded by a Facebook page on October 28, 2021. The video was shared with a caption that reads, “World’s richest party BJP is giving 10,000 rupees per vote in Huzurabad, Telangana and people still think BJP doesn’t do corruption.”
Taking a hint, we searched and found a report published by Telangana Today on October 18, 2021. The title of the article read, “Money distributed in big way in Huzurabad: Congress.” The report suggested, “Congress leader and Telangana affairs in-charge Manickam Tagore on Monday alleged that the money amassed in illegal ways was being distributed in Huzurabad Assembly constituency to lure voters.”
Congress MP Manickam Tagore had also tweeted the viral video on October 28, 2021 with the caption that read, “@BJP4Delhi distribution of money for votes .#CashForVote.”
Thus, it is clear that a viral video related to Telangana’s Huzurabad by-polls has gone viral with a fake claim that BJP is distributing money ahead of the impending UP elections.
