Recently, a 15-second video surfaced on social media platforms showing men in uniform thrashing some people with sticks with a caption suggesting that the visuals are from Ajmer in Rajasthan where three people were arrested for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
A Facebook user shared the video with a caption in Hindi that translates, “Mohammad Yunus, Ahmed Maulana, and Saddam, who were spying for Pakistan from Ajmer, thrashed by the army with sticks.”

The video is viral on Twitter with the same caption.
The video surfaced in the backdrop of an arrest on February 18, 2022, in Ajmer for a man being held in Rajasthan for allegedly spying for Pakistan.
FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the viral video and found it to be shared with a false claim.
With the help of a Reverse Image Search, we found longer version of the same video uploaded on Twitter on April 17, 2020. “Police action in Ratlam for offering prayers collectively in violation of #lockdown,” reads the caption with the video.
Taking a hint from this and performing relevant keyword searches, we found a news report carrying the same visuals on the official OneIndia Hindi YouTube channel on April 18,
2020.
The description of the video reads, “Seeing the spread of coronavirus infection, all the shrines have been closed, but some people are still not ready to understand the severity of the corona crisis. On Friday, some people were arrested while performing mass prayers at a mosque on Unkala Road, Ratlam. ”
Clearly, the video shows police thrashing people who violated lockdown in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam during the first COVID-19 wave in April 2020.
Therefore, it can be concluded the claim with the viral video is false.
