As the world watched horrific visuals of Russia attacking Ukraine, pictures and videos of Ukrainians fighting back has flooded social media. In this backdrop, video of a man rescuing and saving a little girl is being shared online with a caption insinuating that the scene is from the ongoing war in Ukraine.

Facebook users are sharing the video with the caption, “सैनिक तो हमेशा ही असली हीरो होता है किसी भी देश का क्यों ना हो…Russia Ukraine War: असली हीरो देखना चाहते हो तो ये वीडियो मिस मत करना सैल्यूट#indianstudentsinUkraine.”

We ran a simple keyword search on YouTube and found that the same video was shared on the YouTube channel of TRT World in 2017, with the title, “US Aid worker runs through gunfire to save the girl.”

The description of the video read, “An American aid worker has been praised after running through gunfire to save a little girl. Some have criticised the video due to deaths caused by US airstrikes.”

CBS Mornings also shared the same video on their YouTube page in 2017. The video description read, “Newly released video shows an American aid worker racing into gunfire to save a little girl in Iraq. The dangerous rescue was carried out by David Eubank, who runs the humanitarian group, Free Burma Rangers. He spent the last nine months with Iraqi forces who are attacking the ISIS stronghold of Mosul. Jamie Yuccas reports.”
