National Consensus On Operation Ganga

New Delhi: Members of Parliament, cutting across party affiliations, lent support to the government’s Operation Ganga to evacuate Indian students and nationals from war-torn Ukraine.

Briefing MPs of Consultative Committee of  Parliament of External Affairs Ministry, External Affairs Minister Dr. S Jaishankar gave details of Operation Ganga which has brought back nearly 3,400 Indians home safely so far.
The Minister briefed the MPs about flights being operated and IAF joining in with C 17 Globemaster aircraft.
He also briefed the lawmakers about the situation in Ukraine where Russian shelling has intensified.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and MP Dr Shashi Tharoor were among the members of the Parliamentary Committee on External Affairs.

Later, Dr. Tharoor described the meeting g as “excellent”.

Earlier, Foreign Secretary Harsh Vardhan Shringla had briefed the MPs about Operation Ganga.
