A photo of ‘The Kashmir Files’ Producer Pallavi Joshi, Director Vivek Agnihotri and RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat is being widely shared on social media with a claim that Bhagwat met and congratulated them post the release of the movie.
The post is being shared with a caption that reads, “राष्ट्रीय स्वयंसेवक संघ के प.पू.सरसंघचालक डॉ मोहन जी भागवत ने #ThekashmirFiles फिल्म की सराहना की, विवेक अग्निहोत्री और पल्लवी जोशी को बधाई दी। मा.भागवत जी ने कहा, “हर सत्य साधक को इस फिल्म को शानदार ढंग से लिखी गई स्क्रिप्ट, पूरी तरह से बनाई गई कलात्मक कृति, गहन शोध देखना चाहिए।” (English translation, “Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha former Sarsanghchalak Dr Mohan Ji Bhagwat praises #ThekashmirFiles film, congratulates Vivek Agnihotri and Pallavi Joshi. NewsMobile did a fact-check and found the claim to be misleading.
On doing a Google Reverse Image Search we found that the same image was uploaded by Vivek Agnihotri on its Twitter handle on April 26, 2019. The image was shared with a caption that reads, “Thanks a lot Mohan Bhagwat ji @RSSorg for watching #TheTashkentFiles. Your comment that this is one of the “Most honest, fair, balanced and important document of India’s modern history” reinforces our faith in #RightToTruth.”
I Am Budha website had also uploaded the viral image on April 26, 2019, with a title that read, “The Tashkent Files”: Authentic, Accurate and Vital Indian Document; says RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat.” The article said that a special screening of “The Tashkent Files” was held in the headquarters of the RSS Organization, at Reshimbagh in Nagpur. RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat, not so interested in Cinema, but his curiosity towards Lal Bahadur Shastri’s mysterious death in Tashkent, urged him to open the fact-files. He was very much pleased by the authenticity and accuracy presented by the film-maker that he declared the film to be most honest, fair, balanced and an important document of Indian History.

However, we can ascertain that the viral image is old and does not show Bhagwat meeting Joshi and Agnihotri post the release of ‘The Kashmir Files’.
