IMD Issues Orange Alert In Delhi Amid Rise In Temperature

New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted a major heatwave condition and rise in temperature in North India. “Orange” alert was issued in the national capital on Monday due to an increase in temperature in several parts.

R.K.Jenami. senior scientist at IMD said that “Orange alert in Delhi. Severe heatwave from June 4 in Haryana, Punjab, Delhi, UP & parts of MP, Rajasthan. Temp varying b/w 44°-47°. Shall continue for 4 more days. We advise people to venture out carefully as heat spell very severe.”

According to IMD, Heatwave conditions will prevail in parts of Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, and Chattisgarh on Monday. Madhya Pradesh and parts of south Uttar Pradesh will experience heatwave on the 6th and 7th June.

IMD further predicted that there will be no major change in temperature for the next four to five days in Northern India.

The IMD report further added that, instances of scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in parts of Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal for the next five days.
