Hyderabad: The Hyderabad police on Thursday informed that commissioner CV Anand will be urging the Juvenile Justice Board to conduct a trial against the allegedly accused considering them as adults and not minors.
The police further added that they will request and ensure maximum punishment for all the accused involved in the Hyderabad minor gang-rape case.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand said that “We will request the Juvenile Justice Board for trial against the Juvenile Conflict with Law (JCLs) as adults but not as minors to ensure they get maximum punishment, once we collect all the evidence against all the six accused including five JCLs in Jubleehills minor gang-rape case.”
Telangana Minister KT Rama Rao welcomed the decision and tweeted in support of the Telangana police. He also added that “If you are adult enough to commit a crime as heinous as rape, one must also be punished as an adult and not as a juvenile.”
Earlier today, one of the accused was sent to police custody till June 11th in connection to the gang-rape case. The police have further sought custody of the five alleged accused who are currently in the observation home. All the accused were arrested earlier on Tuesday.
