New Delhi: Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge lashed out at the central government over the continuous ruckus and chaos that was created outside the Congress headquarters amid the protest carried out by the workers and leader of Congress.
Senior leaders like Mallikarjun Kahrge were present along with Ajay Maken. Kharge informed the media that “All detained Congress leaders were kept illegally. No cases were registered. Our leaders had to go to hospitals, some had broken ribs. We came to the Vice President-Rajya Sabha Chairman to appeal on this matter. It’s his duty to protect us.”
During the press interaction, P. Chidambaram said that they met Rajya Sabha Chairman M Venkaiah Naidu and have also given a written complaint on the behavior of police in the past three days against the Congress workers and leaders.
Chidambaram said that “Police have detained MPs without a written order for 8-12 hours. They denied them food and water and when the MPs asked if they had been arrested, the police didn’t give any answer… it’s a clear violation of liberty… every fundamental right violated,”.
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has been summoned by ED on Friday in connection with the National Herald Case.
