England Beat India By 7 Wickets In 5th Test, Series Draw 2-2

Date:

Birmingham: The wait for a series win in England gets longer as England draws the series 2-2 after registering a crucial win in the fifth test match against India by 7 wickets.

The Indian bowling attack fell short in front of the sublime batting performance of Jonny Bairstow and Joe Root chasing down the target of 378 runs. With this win, England registered their highest successful run chase in Test history by the side.

Indian bowlers failed to build pressure on the batters after getting three quick wickets in the second innings. Joe Root and Jonny Bairstow took charge of the innings by scoring unbeaten centuries.

A string of low performances from Virat Kohli continues as he failed to dominate with his bat and scored 11 runs in the first innings followed by 20 runs in the second innings. Shubman Gill failed to anchor and build a strong partnership in both innings.

Rishabh Pant and Cheteshwar Pujara managed to score some runs in the second innings but the other top-order batsmen had no answers to England’s bowling attack.

With this loss, India will now move ahead to another part of the tour and play three T20s and three ODIs scheduled against England starting from the 7th of July.
