‘PM Special’ Scheme To Provide Medical Care To Elderly

New Delhi: The central government is all set to launch a new scheme ‘PM Special’ which will provide affordable medical care to the elderly at the doorstep.

The centre is planning to train 100,000 geriatric caregivers over the next three years as part of the scheme. What is Geriatric care? It is an area of medicine that focuses on the health care of elderly people

Although the Union ministry of social justice and development are likely to start its training program within a week. The online portal where the facility is going to be available for the general public will launch in September, said the ministry.

In the ministry of Social Welfare, Secretary Subramaniam needs geriatric professionals, properly trained professionals to take care of elderly people. In this situation, people take possible services wherever possible, sometimes less educated and uneducated people start doing this work, and due to this, the health of elderly people is not in safe hands. Subramaniam also mentioned, “the government was now working on its system in a professional manner, which would be approved by the health ministry. This will provide quality care to the elderly and also reduce the cost”.

The Secretary gave an opportunity to those who have studied up to 12th standard and can apply for the training to become a gynecologist, also he said that the government will provide free training to at least 10,000 people from SC, ST, and others.

The scheme will provide employment to at least one lakh people and the biggest focus of this scheme is to take proper care of elderly people.
