Fact Check: 2018 Picture Of Bhagwant Mann Resurfaces As Recent One

After drinking a glass of water directly from Kali Bein a holy rivulet in Sultanpur Lodhi Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted to Delhi’s Indraprastha Apollo Hospital with a stomach pain on July 19, 2022.

In the above context, an image of Bhagwant Mann is widely shared on social media with a claim that it shows him admitted to hospital after drinking the water.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did the fact-check, and found it to be misleading.

On putting the picture through Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image uploaded by PTC Punjab on August 1, 2018.

The report associated with the image reads: “Aam Aadmi Party leader and MP Bhagwant Mann has been hospitalised due to some ailment of the stomach. He has been admitted to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in Delhi.”

We found that the same image was also uploaded by India Today on August 1, 2018. The report reads: “AAP leader Bhagwant Mann is hospitalised in Delhi after he suffered from a kidney-related ailment, sources close to him said. The AAP MP from Punjab’s Sangrur has been in the hospital since last five days.”

Thus, we can ascertain that the viral claim is misleading.
