Fact Check: Image of a Man Burning the National Flag Viral with Misleading Claim

A picture post has surfaced on social media with a man burning the national flag, claiming that he is a member of RSS.

The text reads: “RSS Member burning Indian flag is ok in new India.”

FACT CHECK

When NewsMobile fact-checked the claim, it was found to be fake.

Putting the image through Reverse Image Search, we found that the man, identified as M. Prabhu a teacher from Tamil Nadu, burned the national flag in protest against the government. He said that he was protesting against the Central government as it failed to constitute the Cauvery management board.

Also, an article by Satya Vijayi, titled ‘School Teacher from Tamil Nadu arrested for burning the National Flag’, had featured this image.

So, the above information proves that the claim attached to the viral image is FAKE.
