Fact Check: Was the ‘Nitish Sabke Hai’ Poster Put After the JD(U)-RJD Alliance?

Date:

JD(U) leader Nitish Kumar resigned as the chief minister of Bihar on August 9, 2022, and walked out of the NDA alliance with BJP. He then re-joined the grand alliance and took  oath as the chief minister on August 10, 2022.

In the above context, a poster with the text, “Nitish Sabke hain” is widely shared on the social media, hinting that the poster was put post JD(U)-RJD alliance.

The poster was shared with a caption: “देख रहा है बिनोद…… नीतीश कुमार सबके है। पहले बीजेपी के थे, फिर RJD के भी हुए, फिर बीजेपी- LJP के हुए और अब तो RJD, कांग्रेस, CPI और HUM के भी हो गए हैं। कहा मिलेगा इतना मिलनसार नेता???” (English translation: “Are you watching Binod?….Nitish Kumar is of everyone. First, he belonged to BJP, then to RJD, then to BJP-LJP and now to RJD, Congress, CPI and HUM. Where will you find such a friendly leader?”)

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile did the fact-check, and found it to be misleading.

Doing a Google Reverse Image Search, we found the same image uploaded by BBC Marathi, dated November 10, 2020.

The same image had also been uploaded by Live Hindustan, dated October 2, 2020. According to the report, hoarding was put outside the JDU headquarters during the Bihar Assembly elections in 2020.

Hence, we can ascertain that the viral image is old and has no relation to the recent political crisis in the state. Thus, the claim is misleading.
