Asia Cup 2022: Ravindra Jadeja Ruled Out, BCCI Announces Revised India Squad

Date:

Mumbai: Ravindra Jadeja has been ruled out of the remainder of the Asia Cup 2022 with an injury to his right knee.

The All-India Senior Selection Committee on Friday has named Axar Patel as the replacement for Ravindra Jadeja, earlier named as one of the standbys in the squad and will join the team in Dubai soon.

“Ravindra Jadeja sustained a right knee injury and is ruled out of the tournament. He is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team,” BCCI said in a statement on Friday.

BCCI did not give details about the occurrence of Jadeja’s injury but it does appear that the all-rounder might have hurt his knee during India’s last group A match against Hong Kong on Wednesday.

BCCI informed that he is currently under the supervision of the BCCI medical team and announced India’s new squad for the Asia Cup; Rohit Sharma (Captain), KL Rahul (vice-captain), Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Deepak Hooda, Rishabh Pant (wicket-keeper), Dinesh Karthik (wicket-keeper), Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, R. Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Ravi Bishnoi, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Arshdeep Singh, Avesh Khan.
