Miranda College Fest: Delhi Police Takes Suo Moto Cognizance Over Men Scaling Walls In Viral Video

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Police has taken cognizance over a case registered against some unknown people trying to enter the all-women Miranda College during the Diwali Mela fest organised by the college.

DCP North Delhi in a statement said that “Due to huge crowd gathering at a Diwali Mela organised in Miranda House College in North Campus on October 14, gates were closed by college admin. Some students tried scaling the walls but were prevented. The program went peacefully No formal complaint received so far.”

In a viral video, few people can be seen scaling the walls of the college to enter the premises. Delhi Police has further taken a suo moto cognizance into the matter and a case has been registered in connection with the matter.

DCP North Delhi took to Twitter and added “Investigation will follow”.

Earlier, one of the students presumably from the college shared the video and added that “Men climbing over the walls to get into Miranda House during an open fest. What followed was horrible. Cat-calling, groping, sexist sloganeering and more. Men entering safe spaces to harass gender minorities is nothing new, but they out do themselves every time,”.
