Pulitzer-Winning Photojournalist Allegedly Stopped From Travelling To US

New Delhi: Pulitzer Award-winning photojournalist from Kashmir Sanna Irshad Mattoo claimed that she was stopped from flying to the United States by the immigration authorities at Delhi’s IGI Airport.

Sanna Irshad Mattoo took to Twitter and said that “I was on my way to receive the Pulitzer award in New York but I was stopped at immigration at Delhi airport and barred from travelling internationally despite holding a valid US visa and ticket.”

The photojournalist was awarded the Pulitzer Award for her coverage of COVID pandemic working for Reuters. She was scheduled to visit New York on Monday.

She further added that “This is the second time I have been stopped without reason or cause. Despite reaching out to several officials after what happened few months ago but I never received any response. Being able to attend the award ceremony was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me.”
