London: UK Prime Minister Liz Truss has resigned from the post after 45 days in office, making it the shortest term for a British Prime Minister.
Liz Truss in a statement said that “Given the situation, I realised I cannot deliver on the mandate given to me…I spoke with His Majesty the King and informed him about my decision.”

She said that “I came into office at a time of great economic and international instability. Families and businesses were worried about how to pay their bills, Putin’s illegal war in Ukraine threatens the security of our whole continent and our country has been held back for too long by low economic growth,”.
She further added that she will continue to be in office until a new successor for her post is chosen.
Earlier this week, Liz Truss in an interview apologized for her move on Tax cuts leading to major economic chaos in the UK. However, she further “vowed” to continue to be on the post.
This comes a day after Indian-origin Home Secretary Suella Braverman tendered her resignation, citing “technical infringement of the rules” she committed while sending official documents to a parliamentary colleague.
