Amritsar: Shiv Sena leader Sudhir Suri was shot dead by unidentified people in Amritsar on Friday, police said.
The incident took place near Gopal Mandir in Amritsar, where Suri and other party members were holding a protest outside over a management dispute when reportedly at least five shots were fired from a pistol.
Suri was rushed to a hospital where he passed away.
Police arrested the accused and also recovered the weapons.
“Sudhir Suri was shot outside Gopal Mandir, Amritsar during some agitation. He sustained bullet injuries and was rushed to hospital and died. The accused has been arrested. His weapons are recovered,” Arun Pal Singh, Commissioner of Police, Amritsar said.
