The above post can be seen here.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be false.

First of all, we did not find any reliable news report about his demise. Had he passed away, it would have made headlines globally.

However, several reports quoted the Brazilian newspaper Folha de S.Paulo suggesting that he was moved to palliative care. Some of such reports can be seen here and here.

Meanwhile, Pelé’s daughter Flavia Nascimento rubbished the reports, and clarified that he was not under palliative care.

“It’s pretty unfair people saying that he is in a terminal condition, that he is under palliative care. Believe us: that’s not it,” Nascimento said in an interview with Globo TV as quoted by The Guardian.

Also, a statement by the Albert Einstein Israelite Hospital on Pelé’s official Instagram account, dated December 4, 2022, explains that he was admitted to the hospital on November 29 for a reassessment of the chemotherapy treatment for the colon tumour, which was detected in September 2021. He is undergoing treatment and in a stable condition.
