Before the second and final phase of polling in Gujarat, PM Modi visited his mother in Ahmedabad on December 4. Against this backdrop, an image showing PM Modi sitting with his mother Heeraben Modi and wife Jashodaben is widely shared on social media.

The image is shared on Facebook with a caption: “भारत जोड़ो यात्रा सफल हुई। कब के बिछढे सनम आज गुजरात चुनाव में मिले.. “जसोदा बेन संग नरेंद्र मोदी” (English translation: Bharat Jodo Yatra was successful. Long-estranged friends met today in the Gujarat elections… “Narendra Modi with Jasoda Ben”)

The image has gone viral on Facebook

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above picture, and found it to be morphed.

We found several media reports carrying the original image on December 4, 2022. We could not find any such report in which PM Modi’s wife was also present when he met his mother.

ANI news agency had also tweeted about the meeting of Modi and his mother on December 4. Even the video tweeted by ANI doesn’t mention PM Modi meeting Jashodaben.

Below is the comparison between the viral image and the original image.

Doing a Reverse Image Search of the photo of Jasodaben seen in the viral post, we found it in a Patrika report. According to this report, dated December 23, 2017, Jashodaben had reached Ajmer to meet her relatives at that time.

Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral image of PM Modi sitting with Jashodaben is edited.
