DGCA Issues Show Cause Notice To Top Air India Officials, Calls Conduct “Unprofessional”

Date:

New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in a statement issued on Thursday slammed Air India and stated that they handles the incident of a drunk man urinating on a woman passenger “unprofessionally” which led to “systematic failure”.

DGCA in an official statement said that “Prima facie it emerges that provisions related to handling an unruly passenger on board have not been complied with. The conduct of the concerned airline appears to be unprofessional and has led to a systemic failure.”

The authority further added that the incident shows a “lack of appreciation of regulatory obligations.”

DGCA has further asked the airline’s top officials including the Accountable Manager, Director of in-flight Services, Air India, pilot, and the crew of the flight to furnish an explanation within a span of two weeks.

Earlier, Air India submitted a detailed report to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) pertaining to the incident.

According to reports, a man allegedly urinated on an elderly woman co-passenger during a New York-Delhi flight in November last year. The shocking incident occurred on November 26 when the flight was on its way from John F Kennedy international airport in New York to Delhi.
