Amid the ongoing cold wave conditions in most parts of north India, a video showing a car driving on what seems like a snow-covered road is widely shared on social media claiming that it is the first-time snowfall in Barwala village of Haryana.
The video is shared on Facebook with a caption: “Neither it’s HIMACHAL nor It’s KASHMIR. First time in History Snowfall is seen in BARWALA Village of HARYANA”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
Going through the comment sections, we found multiple users saying that this video is of a hailstorm.
Searching further, we found an extended version of the same video published on a YouTube page, dated March 14, 2020, with a caption: “Barwala by-pass #hailstorm #full rain fall Barwala news
A building with “JD Jindal Hospital” written on it could be seen in the extended version of the video. Google Maps finds a hospital with the same name in Hisar, Haryana. Hisar is around 40 km from Barwala. When images of the hospital on Google Maps are compared with the screenshots from the YouTube video, it indicates the same structure.
We were also able to geolocate the location shown in the viral video using Google Street View.
We could not find any credible media report stating that a snowfall recently happened in Haryana. Had such an incident happened, mainstream media would have covered it.
Thus, it is evident from the above information that the viral video is old and shared with misleading claims.
