Why Are You Upset With People Of Delhi: Kejriwal Writes To PM Modi

Date:

New Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday, hours ahead of the scheduled announcement, urging him to pass the state Budget.

Arvind Kejriwal in a letter to the PM added that “It is the first time in the country’s 75-year history that a state budget has been stopped. Why are you upset with the people of Delhi?”

He further urged PM Modi and added “The people of Delhi urge you, with folded hands, to pass their Budget.”

This year’s budget was scheduled to be presented by the Aam Aadmi Party in the Assembly on Tuesday. However, on Monday evening, Kejriwal claimed that the central government had put the budget on hold.

In a statement issued by the finance minister Kailash Gehlot, he said that “For mysterious
reasons, the Chief Secretary of Delhi kept the letter hidden for 3 days. I learned about the letter only at 2pm today i.e. 20 March 2023,. The file with MHA’s letter was put up to me officially only at 6pm today i.e. just the day before the budget was to be presented in Delhi Assembly.”

The statement further added that “It is also unfortunate that MHA is spreading falsehoods about Delhi government’s budget. Nearly Rs 22,000 crores have been allocated for capital expenditure next year, whereas the allocation for advertisements is only Rs 550 crore, which is similar to that of last year. The concerns raised by MHA are irrelevant and seemingly done only to scuttle the budget for next year of Delhi government.”

Arvind Kejriwal took to Twitter and added “Delhi is doing exceedingly well, despite all obstacles being created on daily basis. Imagine if such obstacles were not created and all govts worked together for the welfare of people. Then Delhi would grow multiple times faster.”
