‘Worried That Rahul Gandhi Might Ask Questions..: Congress Hits Back At BJP

Date:

New Delhi: Amid the recent uproar by the BJP over the speech of Rahul Gandhi in Britain, Congress leader Pawan Khera defended Rahul Gandhi’s remarks and said criticizing the government is not equivalent to criticizing the nation.

During the protest over the demand of a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) to probe the Andani-Hindenburg issue, senior Congress leader Pawan Khera said that “Criticizing the government is not criticizing the nation. The Government should understand this. Debate does not weaken democracy, instead it strengthens it.”

Lashing out at the central government, Khera added that “Government is doing this drama because they are trying to escape the opposition’s questions.”

He further added that “They are worried that Rahul Gandhi might again ask the PM about his relations with Adani. There is no JPC probe yet, this is the reason they are creating so much drama.”

Responding to Sambit Patra’s comparison of Rahul Gandhi to “Mir Jafar of Indian politics”, Khera added that “He will get a strong answer soon. We are also learning from them (BJP) how to give answers. Soon action will be taken on his statement,”.
