IPL 2023: Gaikwad, Moeen Glide CSK To Season’s Maiden Win By 12 Runs

Chennai: Ruturaj Gaikwad and Moeen Ali guide CSK to their maiden win of the season by 12 runs against Lucknow SuperGiants.

Chasing the mammoth target of 218 runs, Opener KL Rahul and Kyle Mayers bolted a quick start.

Moeen Ali remained the impactful player of the match as he picked four crucial wickets in his spell.

Mayers played a sublime inning of 53 runs but was dismissed by Moeen Ali. Mitchell Santner took the wicket of Deepak Hooda. Ali went on to dismiss KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis, and Krunal Pandya.

LSG continued to lose wickets at regular intervals as CSK bowlers took charge of the innings. Nicholas Pooran played an impactful innings during the chase as he scored 32 runs off 18 deliveries.

Youngster Tushar Deshpande managed to secure two wickets in hsi spell. Deepak Chahar remained the most expensive bowler for CSK as he gave away 55 runs in his spell and returned without a wicket.

Earlier, Inviting CSK to bat first, Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devon Conway minted a strong partnership of 110 runs giving a blistering start to the innings.

Ruturaj Gaikwad continued his top form as he scored 57 runs in 37 deliveries while Conway played a power-packed innings of 47 runs in just 29 deliveries.

Shivam Dube smacked two sixes in two balls. CSK touched the 150-run mark in 13.3 overs. Dube went back after a quick cameo of 27 runs in 16 balls with a four and three sixes.

With this, CSK will next face arch-rival Mumbai Indians while LSG will clash with SRH.
