New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Wednesday attended a “historic meeting” in the presence of Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav and Rahul Gandhi where they agreed to join hands ahead of general elections in 2024.
After the meeting, Mallikarjun Kharge said that “today we had a historic meeting here and discussed many issues. We all have decided to unite all (opposition) parties and fight the upcoming elections unitedly.”
Speaking about the unity of the opposition, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said “this is a historic step to unite the opposition. We will develop the vision of the opposition parties and move forward; we will all stand together for the country.”
Talking about other opposition parties, Nitish Kumar claimed that “We will try to unite as many political parties as we can and move forward together.”
According to a PTI report, Mallikarjun Kharge has reached out to Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin and former Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray and is likely to hold meetings in the coming weeks.
