‘TMKOC’ Actor Accuses Producer Of Sexual Harassment

Date:

Mumbai: An actor from the popular television show ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ accused producer Asit Kumar Modi and two others of sexual harassment.

Asit Kumar Modi reportedly denied the charges against him and claimed she was let go of the show due to misbehavior.

Asit further added that he will take legal action against the actor for trying to defame him and the show.

According to a newswire PTI report, the actor said that she sent a formal letter to the concerned authorities, including the National Commission for Women (NCW) and Mumbai Police on April 8, accusing Asit, project lead Sohail Ramani, and executive producer Jatin Bajaj of sexual harassment and outraging the modesty of a woman.

The actor claimed that Modi ‘sexually harassed’ her on multiple occasions over the last few years.

She further alleged that “”He would pass uncharitable comments but I ignored them. In March 2019, in Singapore, he said many things like, ‘Come to my room, let’s have whisky’,”.

The actor further added that “I kept quiet but shared these things with two of my colleagues. They would often shield me. They are still working on the show, so they can’t do much,”.

The producer while speaking with PTI denied the allegations against him and said “Since we terminated her services, she is making these baseless allegations,”.

He also claimed the actor was removed from the show on “account of misbehaviour”.

“Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah”, one of the longest airing television sitcom shows in the country with lead actors including Dilip Joshi, Munmun Dutta and Mandar Chandwadkar.
