New Delhi: The INDIA bloc’s no-confidence motion was defeated in the Lok Sabha on Thursday following a walkout by the Opposition parties during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s speech.

- Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reply to the debate on Thursday. Ahead of the no-confidence motion, PM Modi took a swipe at the I.N.D.I.A alliance called “Opposition is full of distrust and as a reflection of this, they have brought the no-confidence motion.”
- In 2018, Prime Minister Narendra Modi faced a no-confidence motion initiated by the Telugu Desam Party led by Chandrababu Naidu. This motion was defeated, with the government garnering 325 votes against the motion, while only 126 votes were in favour.
- In the current scenario, with a Lok Sabha strength of 570 and a majority threshold of 270, the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is projected to secure approximately 332 votes.
