Fact Check: Viral Post With a Fake Communal Spin Is From Agra, NOT A Hookah Bar In MP

Date:

A video, showing some policemen barging into an underground location and catching hold of  few men and women in intimate positions, has gone wild on social media. Giving this video a communal spin, many users claim that police arrested 15 Muslim men and 15 Hindu women in a hookah bar in Madhya Pradesh. People have accused Muslim men of luring Hindu women (love jihad).

A Facebook user shared this video and wrote: “मध्यप्रदेश के हुक्का बार में कल पड़ी रेड में कुल 30 पकड़ाए,15 लड़के 15 लड़किया। [English translation: A total of 30 people, 15 boys and 15 girls, were caught in a hookah bar in Madhya Pradesh yesterday. The girls were from very good families. The special thing about this is that all 15 boys were Muslims, and all 15 girls were Hindus. There was not even a single Muslim girl. If anyone wants to think about it, then he should think with a balanced mind… otherwise whatever is happening is happening. But we should look at our own house before pointing fingers at others.]

Fact Check

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.

Running the keyframes of the video through Reverse Image Search, our team found a report by UP Tak dated 12 August 2022, showing a screenshot of the viral video. According to the report, the viral video is from the Hariparvat police station area in Agra, where the cops raided a cafe and made the ‘intimate’ clip.

According to AajTak report, dated August 12, many people questioned on working style of the Police and objected to the move. After the video went viral, three policemen appointed at the Hariparvat police station were immediately suspended. SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary took action and suspended Head Constable Ranjit, Constable Saurabh Kumar, and Constable Gyanendra Singh for tarnishing the image of the police department by leaking the video.

Talking to Newsmobie, Satyanarayan Prajapat, ASP, Hari Parvat, Agra, said that there was no communal angle involved in this case as all the couples caught during the raid were adults and from the Hindu community. However, to keep their identity private, he did not reveal their name. No complaint has been registered against them. He also informed that SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary has suspended three officials for sharing the offensive video.

We also tried to contact SSP Prabhakar Chaudhary for his statement, but failed. This story will be updated if we get a response from his side.

Therefore, we can conclusively say that the viral video is from Agra in UP, NOT a hookah bar in Madhya Pradesh.
