New Delhi: Against the backdrop of current global uncertainties, India and the United States are scheduled to hold the 2+2 meeting in New Delhi in November.
The United States Secretary of Defence, Lloyd J. Austin, and Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, have plans to meet with India’s External Affairs Minister, S. Jaishankar, and Defence Minister, Rajnath Singh, in the nation’s capital, as reported by ANI, citing government sources.
During the meeting, the leaders will be addressing global and regional security concerns, with a particular focus on the evolving situation in the Middle East arising from the conflict between Israel and Hamas.
The ongoing Russia-Ukraine war in Europe is also expected to be discussed, along with its repercussions on the region.
India and the United States have engaged in a series of dialogues aimed at enhancing their strategic partnership, and this upcoming meeting marks the fifth instalment of these discussions.
The 2+2 Ministerial Dialogue is an annual diplomatic meeting that was established in 2018. It involves high-level representatives from India, including the Minister of External Affairs or Foreign Minister and the Defence Minister, engaging in discussions and collaboration on shared areas of interest with counterparts from the United States, namely the Secretary of State and the Secretary of Defence.
