It was back in 2021 when the news of Deepika Padukone and her Piku co-star Amitabh Bachchan starring in the Indian adaptation of the very famous Hollywood comedy-drama ‘The Intern’.
Initially, it was Rishi Kapoor who was supposed to star in the film opposite Deepika Padukone. But, after his demise in 2020, the news came in that Amitabh Bachchan will be starring alongside Padukone in the film.
However, since then there has been no big such update on the Indian remake of the Anne Hathaway and Robert De Niro namesake starrer. At the same time a year later in 2022, there were several media reports that Padukone had apparently moved out of the film, which she was reportedly co-producing under KA Productions. But, seems like there is good news for all the fans eagerly waiting for these iconic co-stars to reunite again.
According to a media report, the film will reportedly hit the silver screens in the first quarter of 2024, following the big release of Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone starrer ‘Fighter’.
A source quoted in a report by News18 said, ‘the Intern remake will mark Deepika’s second production venture after Chhapaak. She’s still very much a part of the project in the capacity of both a producer and actor. The film might have suffered many delays due to unavoidable circumstances but the makers are finally ready to roll it.’
The source also added, ‘If all goes well, the shoot of the film will begin in January-February next year. While Deepika will be a part of the first schedule of the film, it’s still unclear as to when Big B will begin shoot’.
