New Delhi: The prestigious Filmfare Awards 2024 took place last night, with Animal stealing the show. The event, held in GIFT City, Gujarat, was hosted by Karan Johar, Ayushmann Khurrana, and Manish Paul.
Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, stood out as major winners at the Filmfare Awards for their outstanding performances in films released the previous year. Ranbir Kapoor was honoured as the Best Actor in a Leading Role (Male) for Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s controversial film, Animal. Alia Bhatt won Best Actor in a Leading Role (Female) for her performance in Karan Johar’s romantic family drama, Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.

Vidhu Vinod Chopra received the Best Director award, and his biographical drama 12th Fail was crowned the Best Film, surpassing contenders Animal, Atlee Kumar’s Jawan, Amit Rai’s OMG 2, Siddharth Anand’s Pathaan, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.
In a different category, Devashish Makhija’s thriller Joram secured the Filmfare award for Best Film (Critics’). Additionally, Vikrant Massey (12th Fail), Rani Mukerji (Mrs Chatterjee Vs Norway), and Shefali Shah (Three Of Us) earned the prestigious Black Lady as they were named the best actors by the critics.
The event, hosted by filmmaker-producer Karan Johar, actor Ayushmann Khurrana, and TV host Maniesh Paul, was marked by glamourous red-carpet arrivals, engaging performances, and inspiring moments of success.
