Fact Check: CBSE Did Not Introduce Chapter On ‘Dating And Relationships’; False Claim Goes Viral

Date:

A news went viral on the internet stating that the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has included a chapter on ‘Dating and Relationships’ in its Class 9th curriculum.

Several news outlets also reported on the same (These reports can be seen here, here and here) quoting an X-post which featured pictures of pages from a book.

However, nowhere in the picture, does it mention Class 9th.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim and found it to be false.

Upon a thorough search, we found an X-post by CBSE clarifying that the viral claim is false and the board has NOT introduced any chapter on ‘Dating and Relationships’.

In a statement, CBSE refuted the claim and stated that viral pictures are in fact from a book titled ‘A Guide to Self Awareness and Empowerment’ by Gagan Deep Kaur and Published by G.Ram Books(P) Ltd. Educational Publishers.

“A section of media is wrongly attributing a book to be a publication of CBSE containing objectionable material on dating and relationships according to the reports. This is totally baseless and incorrect. The contents of the chapter which are going viral on Social Media are in fact from a book titled A Guide to Self Awareness and Empowerment written by Gagan Deep Kaur and Published by G.Ram Books(P) Ltd. Educational Publishers. The CBSE neither publishes any books nor recommends books of any private publishers” CBSE statement read.

NewsMobile also awaits a response from G.Ram Books(P) Ltd for further clarification. Fact Check will updated soon.

However, with the above findings, it is clear that the viral claim is false.
