Gurugram: Following Manohar Lal Khattar’s resignation as Haryana’s Chief Minister, Nayab Singh Saini took oath as the new CM of the state.
Khattar’s resignation along with the entire cabinet comes amid speculation of a split in the ruling alliance of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) over seat-sharing agreements for the 2024 Lok Sabha election.

Who is Nayab Singh Saini?
- Saini, the newly appointed Haryana Chief Minister, represents Kurukshetra in the Lok Sabha and hails from the OBC community.
- Saini’s political journey spans nearly three decades, starting with his efforts to strengthen the BJP’s organization in Haryana.
- Saini embarked on his journey within the BJP in 1996, initially contributing to the organizational structure of the Haryana BJP. He served alongside the state general secretary until 2000, gradually ascending the party ranks.
- Notably, Saini assumed the position of district general secretary of the BJP Youth Wing in Ambala in 2002, later being appointed as the district president in Ambala in 2005.
- Saini was elected as an MLA from Narayangarh constituency in the 2014 Haryana state polls and later appointed as a state minister in 2016.
- In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Saini contested from Kurukshetra and secured a significant victory, defeating the Congress candidate by a substantial margin of nearly 4 lakh votes.
