BJP Releases Second List of Candidates; Khattar, Gadkari Among Big Names

New Delhi: The Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) on Wednesday, released its second list of 72 candidates for Lok Sabha elections. Among the notable figures included in this list are Anurag Thakur, former Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, Basavaraj Bommai, Piyush Goyal, and Anil Baluni.

Key Highlights:

  • Union Minister Nitin Gadkari to contest from Nagpur, Maharashtra.
  • Union Minister Piyush Goyal to contest from Mumbai North.
  • Union Minister Anurag Thakur to contest from Himachal Pradesh’s Hamirpur.
  • Union Minister Pralhad Joshi to contest from Dharwad, Karnataka
  • Former Karnataka CM Basavaraj Bommai to contest from Haveri, BJP MP Tejasvi Surya to contest from Bangalore South.
  • Former Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar (in file pic) to contest Karnal, Haryana.
  • Ashok Tanwar from Sirsa, Banto Kataria from Ambala, Dharamabir Singh from Bhiwani-Mahendragarh, Rao Inderjit Singh Yadav from Gurugram and Krishan Pal Gurjar from Faridabad
  • The party has fielded former Uttarakhand Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from the Haridwar seat while Anil Baluni, who is the National Chief Spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party is set to contest from the Garhwal seat.
  • In Telangana, Godam Nagesh will contest from Adilabad, DK Aruna from Mahbubnagar, and Saida Reddy will contest from Nalgonda.
  • Also, BJP announced that Harsh Malhotra will contest from East Delhi constituency, a seat which was held by former Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir. Yogendra Chandolia will contest from North West Delhi.
  • Earlier on March 2, the BJP unveiled its initial list comprising 195 candidates for the upcoming elections. Among the prominent names announced, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was designated as the candidate for Varanasi, while Home Minister Amit Shah was nominated for Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Notably, the list featured 34 Union ministers along with two ex-chief ministers.
