After the Central government issued a notification regarding the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA), a video has surfaced on Internet claiming that rapper and composer Raftaar is strongly opposing the CAA.
A Facebook user posted with a caption: “Shame on @raftaarmusic who is speaking against #CAARules in one of his show Le bhai agya #CitizenshipAmendmentAct abhi NRC bhi ayega….. @Delhi Police ask him not to manipulate his followers against Indian laws approved by Indian Govt.”

FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be FALSE.
Running the video keyframes through Reverse Image Search, the NM team traced a Facebook post carrying the same visuals, dated December 26, 2019, with a caption: “Raftaar speaks on CAA and NRC !!”. It clarifies that the video is old.
Searching further with keywords like ‘Raftaar on CAA’ and ‘Rapper Raftaar on CAA’, we found the same video on The Lallantop’s official YouTube channel. This video had been uploaded on December 25, 2019.
According to the video, before the concert began, Raftaar addressed the audience from the stage, expressing his opposition to the CAA. He did not hold back and also used abusive language to criticise the move.
We also found a tweet by the rapper to issue an apology for his use of profane language, dated December 24, 2019. Other news outlets like Indian Express, The Quint, and India Today, also published the same news.
Therefore, it is evident that the video depicting rapper Raftaar criticising the CAA is outdated.
