FACT CHECK
NewsMobile fact-checked the above claim, and found it to be MISLEADING.
After using specific keywords, the NM team traced a video report in the ABP News YouTube channel carrying the viral clip. The report, uploaded on April 25, 2015, reveals that the German Embassy in India had produced a remake of the title song from the 2003 Shah Rukh Khan film Kal Ho Na Ho.
In this remake, the character of SRK was portrayed by the then-German Ambassador to India, Michael Steiner. Preity Zinta’s character was played by Steiner’s wife Alice, and Saif Ali Khan’s character was portrayed by Salman Khurshid. The remake video garnered significant attention at the time, with many news outlets covering it. Most of the shooting for the video took place at the German Ambassador’s residence in Delhi. The German Embassy referred to this project as an example of “modern diplomacy” between India and Germany, aiming to inject new energy into the relations between the two countries.
The making of the song can be viewed on the YouTube channel of his production house, Banyan Tree.
Additionally, Salman Khurshid had already stepped down from the post of foreign minister by then. He served as foreign minister during the UPA tenure from October 2012 to May 2014. Thus, we can conclusively say that the viral clip’s claim over Salman Khurshid’s ‘salsa dance’ is misleading.
