New Delhi: Following the circulation of a viral video showing two young women seemingly celebrating Holi on a Delhi metro coach, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has stated that it is currently examining the footage, citing concerns about potential breaches of its regulations.
The video depicts two women exchanging colorful powders on each other’s cheeks while a Hindi film song plays in the background. However, doubts regarding its authenticity have surfaced, with the DMRC suggesting the use of deep fake technology to fabricate the content.
The DMRC said in a statement said, “Prima facie, the authenticity of the shooting of this video inside the metro also seems doubtful as deep fake technology may have been used to create this content.”
“Through innumerable campaigns and commuter awareness drives we have tried to raise awareness among passengers requesting them not to make reels or indulge in any activity which causes inconvenience to fellow commuters. We also request fellow passengers to inform us immediately the moment they see such shoots being conducted,” it added.
The DMRC released a statement expressing uncertainty about the video’s authenticity, raising the possibility of deep fake technology manipulation. They emphasized their efforts through numerous campaigns and commuter awareness initiatives to discourage passengers from engaging in activities that inconvenience others. Additionally, they urged passengers to promptly report such incidents if observed.
The video sparked outrage on social media, with many condemning the perceived inappropriate behavior in a shared public space. The progression of the interaction from applying color to more intimate actions led to demands for strict measures to be taken.
