Fact Check: Viral Statement Of Rahul Gandhi About Helping Pakistan Is Doctored

Ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, a statement purportedly attributed to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is going viral on social media. According to the ABP News graphics, Rahul Gandhi in a statement on Pakistan said that if Congress government formed, he would help Pakistan by giving a loan of ₹5,000 crore.

FACT CHECK

NewsMobile fact-checked the above post, and found it to be fake.

With a keyword search on Google to find whether Rahul Gandhi made such a statement on Pakistan, we could not find any such news. Had Rahul Gandhi given a statement like the viral post, many major media outlets woud have covered it.

Even the X and Facebook handles of Rahul Gandhi and Congress have not carried any information related to his statement on Pakistan.

Also, checking the logo of ABP News with the help of Twitter’s advanced search, we found a post dated November 12, 2018, which carries the viral post with four similar graphics, saying that these graphics are fabricated.

Hence, it is confirmed that the statement is falsely attributed to Rahul Gandhi and graphics in question are created using photo editing software.
