Ukraine Foreign Minister To Visit India, Discuss Bilateral Ties

New Delhi: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba will be on a two-day visit to India during which he will discuss bilateral ties as well as cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest. Kuleba will arrive in India on Thursday at the invitation of External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

Apart from meeting Jaishankar, the Ukranian foreign minister will also meet Deputy National Security Advisor Vikram Misri. As per a press release by the Ministry of External Affairs, Kuleba will have several engagements, including official meetings with EAM and Deputy NSA to discuss matters about the bilateral partnership and cooperation on regional and global issues of mutual interest. He will also interact with the business community.

The visit comes a day after a telephone conversation between PM Narendra Modi and Ukranian President Zelenskyy. During their conversation on March 20, the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the Indo-Ukranian partnership. While discussing Ukraine’s conflict with Russia, PM Modi reiterated a people-centric approach and called for dialogue and diplomacy as a way forward.

He highlighted that India supports all efforts for an early and peaceful resolution between the two sides. He added that India will do anything within its means to support a peaceful solution.

President Zelenskyy appreciated India’s continued Humanitarian assistance for the people of Ukraine. PM Modi had a telephone conversation with President Zelenskyy and the two leaders discussed ways to strengthen the Indo-Ukranian partnership. PM Modi also had a telephone conversation with Russian President Putin on March 20 and congratulated him on his re-election. PM Modi said that dialogue and diplomacy are the way forward to resolve the conflict.
