IPL 2024: Lucknow Super Giants Beat Royal Challengers Bengaluru By 28 Runs

Date:

Bengaluru: Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) pacer Mayank Yadav’s pace left Royal Challengers Bengaluru rattled as the visitors won the match by 28 runs at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Tuesday in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024.

LSG’s strategic move to open with two left-arm spinners proved pivotal as they stifled the initial momentum of RCB’s batting duo, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli. Siddharth’s cunning variation claimed the prized scalp of Kohli, setting the stage for Mayank Yadav’s explosive pace assault.

RCB’s top order crumbled under the pressure, with Faf’s dismissal due to a mix-up in running and Maxwell’s early exit without scoring. Despite a brief resistance from Patidar and Rawat, RCB’s hopes were dashed as Mahipal Lomror’s cameo came to an end, sealing LSG’s dominance and securing a clinical victory.

Earlier, Quinton de Kock’s 81 and Nicholas Pooran’s quick 40 helped LSG reach a competitive total of 181 for the loss of five wickets.

De Cock spearheaded a formidable start for LSG, forming a blazing 50+ partnership alongside skipper KL Rahul. However, RCB managed to regain control after the powerplay, deploying Dagar and Green to stifle LSG’s momentum.

However, a tactical move by RCB backfired as de Kock and Stoinis capitalized on the change in bowling, smashing another 50+ partnership in quick succession. Just when RCB seemed to be clawing their way back into the game with a breakthrough from Maxwell, Nicholas Pooran unleashed a barrage of sixes in the final two overs, propelling LSG to a formidable total of 181 runs.
