New Delhi: Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) delivered an all-round performance to secure a convincing 67-run victory over Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday in the ongoing Indian Premire League (IPL) 2024.
Despite a spirited effort from Jake Fraser McGurk, SRH managed to fend off the challenge and maintain their winning momentum in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. SRH has moved to second spot with five wins and two losses, giving them 10 points. DC is at seventh, with three wins, five losses and six points.
Earlier, SRH continued their impressive batting form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 with an explosive century partnership between openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. Their fiery performance propelled SRH to a commanding total of 266/7 against DC.
SRH showcased an explosive batting performance, with Travis Head leading the charge at the top of the order. The team reached their fifty in just the 3rd over, with Head reaching his half-century off just 16 balls. SRH’s century came in a rapid 5 overs, and they were 125 for no loss at the end of the powerplay.
Despite a brief resurgence by Delhi Capitals, who managed to reduce SRH from 131 for no loss to 151 for 4, Shahbaz took control of the innings. Guiding his young and inexperienced partner, Nitish Kumar, Shahbaz played a blistering 29-ball 59 not out, propelling his team to an imposing total.
DC skipper Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first against the Pat Cummins-led SRH. After winning the toss DC skipper Rishabh Pant said, “We’re going to bowl first. Wicket looks pretty good, we would like to chase because we are playing more as a batting unit. We have more batters. Maybe there will be dew. The only thing we said is “stay in the contest”. Yes they’ve been playing really good cricket but you can’t let them get away with it. Ground doesn’t matter, end of the day you have to play good cricket. We’re looking to improve each and every match. Instead of Sumit, Lalit comes in. Instead of Ishant, who had a back spasm just 5 minutes back, Nortje comes in.”
SRH captain Pat Cummins said, “We were thinking of having a bowl first as well, looks like a good wicket. The way the boys have been batting, we know teams are going to come hard at us. Same batting lineup, we’ll have a look at the bowling a little later on.”
