Just days after the first phase of the Lok Sabha Polls, a screenshot of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s post on X is going viral on social media. In the screenshot, PM Modi is purportedly stating that a ‘record number’ of people came out to vote for the “INDIA Alliance”. Many users claim that the post suggests people are voting against the NDA across the country.
A Facebook user posted the screenshot with a caption: “Modi ji received the exit poll numbers, which suggest that people have voted against the NDA in record numbers all across the country. This election will be tough for the NDA.”

Fact Check
NewsMobile fact checked the claim, and found it to be misleading.
Checking PM Modi’s X account to verify the post, the NM team identified a post by PM Modi, dated April 19, 2024. PM Modi in the post stated that people across India are voting for the ‘NDA’ in record numbers.
PM Modi wrote in the post, “First phase, great response! Thank you to all those who have voted today. Getting EXCELLENT feedback from today’s voting. It’s clear that people across India are voting for NDA in record numbers.”
Upon comparing the text in the viral screenshot with PM Modi’s post on X, we found that the word ‘NDA’ from the original post was edited to read ‘INDIA’.
Thus, it is clear that the viral screenshot claiming PM Modi said the INDIA Alliance received record votes across the country is doctored.
